Moving the lc-ai repo to using the new LimaCharlie CLI

We released earlier this week a new version (v5.0.0) of the LimaCharlie CLI too. It’s a major improvement over the previous one. A side benefit of this is that it’s now much better suited to be used by AI directly.

This is why we are moving the official lc-ai repo which contains the lc-essentials Claude Plugin to use the CLI instead of the MCP servers. This makes it much faster and uses less tokens than before.

If you still require the MCP version of the plugin, it can get cloned from the https://github.com/refractionPOINT/lc-ai/tree/mcp branch in GitHub (the branch name is mcp).

Let us know if you experience any bugs or issues, or any general feedback.

This new method is also being deployed to the fully-managed Claude Code “AI Terminal” in the LimaCharlie webapp.
